When I logged in to my Amazon.co.uk account on Wednesday, there was a personalized email from Jeff Bezos, the CEO of the online giant.
I am sure millions of other loyal customers may have got the same, perhaps at different times.
Mr Bezos, is offering his customers the choice of getting its latest e-book reader on our doorstep on 27th August, the forthcoming release date.

(07-30) 11:41 PDT -- This week WikiLeaks blew its loudest and largest whistle yet, revealing more than 90,000 confidential documents detailing the war in Afghanistan.
What else happened?

The weather in Westminster, Md., where the Ravens conduct camp at picturesque McDaniel College, is usually quite hot and sticky.
But not Friday, which featured low humidity, warm but not stifling temperatures and a nice little breeze at times for the first full-squad, full-pads practice of Baltimore's camp.
Quite a difference from the muggy conditions that prevailed Thursday at Redskins camp in Ashburn, Va.

The bedtime story is one of the most sacred of childhood rituals.

First up is the actual challenger to the Kindle, the Cop

Soccer hooligans, football fanatics and baseball junkies are all over the world, but to me the thing that's craziest about sports are the people who play them.
Few funny stories I have read about around the web here lately have baseball players complaining, football players sleeping and basketball players defending their choices - and all are strange in their own way.

C EDAR RAPIDS -- Dean Jones got out of the library habit when he got old enough to buy his own books, but he's patronizing the library again, even if he hasn't actually walked in the door.
'When I was younger, I used to spend hours in libraries,' said Jones, 54, of Cedar Rapids.
'It's been a few decades since I've had a library card, because the technology is changing and checking out a book for a few weeks doesn't really suit my style.'
